If you look at it that way, yes. I think it's still wonton experimentation until they have what they are doing, down to an exact process, technique and formula. Imho, they don't have it down to a integral science, because they havn't measured the consequences of their actions. we can't be fully aware if this clandestine shit is safe or not.

fucking with the weather is only going to mess things up even more.

we are already noting changes in climate for the short period we have been on the planet. who knows if they are normal changes in the long term!

            Re: Hurricane Ike

Ike's a category 4 and coming right at us in Florida. We're getting Hanna's rains right now. Nothing bad from Hanna, but Ike looks like trouble. Depending on work, a trip out of town sounds appealing first part of next week.

Being away from home while a hurricane is passing over your town is not fun at all. We lucked out this time. I hope you guys in Florida don't have to experience this.

Yeah, here's hoping Ike misses you guys in Florida and Louisiana. Tropical storm hanna's on us right now I guess and even here in DC its been pouring non-stop all day, with flood warnings all over the news and weather channel! Should pass by tomorrow though.

Thanks man, just got back late last night. No damage, we have power. There's a curfew from 10pm till 6am. Eyeing down Ike at the moment.

Went through Baton Rouge and surrounding areas on the way home, and they really got it worse than NOLA. Trees and powerlines down everywhere. Some may not have electricity for weeks.

i just got back last night too. i evacuated to alexandria, which ended up gettin hit pretty hard. lost power at my parents for about 55hrs, and over 15 inches of rain. only damage i had here in nola was most of the insulation under the house was torn out by the wind. not liking the looks of ike though.

You can't have manslaughter without laughter.

"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl."
