    U.N.K.L.E

Just got home from the show here in New York, antother solid event by the folks at madeevent. Solid, SUPERloud, greatest hits and crowd pleasers (of course) for and hour, then some nice, no...not-so-nice breaks in your face for the second hour or so. Overall impressed, Richard hit the stop button once. Whooops, and they played sasha's remix of "In a state" twice. hmmmm. But overall, wanted to recommend to you folks here in N. America to go check 'em out if you have the chance over the next few weeks. If anyone else was there, I'd love to hear your take on the show. Take care folks. Peace thru beats.
    Peace.

I know what you mean. My thought is that it's a rare opportunity to experience a soundsystem like that in such a small room-and it felt good. Yes, there was a speedbump in there, but we must remember that electronica is NOT about perfection or judgment/criticism. The live p.a. experience is a system of experimentation and the whole package. I remember James Holden hitting the stop button once at Spundae. Whoops, oh well. It's part of it. I'd rather forgive, than be pissed and leave with a bad taste in my mouth, you know?
          Peace.

Good producers, but Lavelle's DJ'ing makes my cry uncle...

Here's my review from Sat -

                            Gaah, what a letdown.

Lavelle was rather messy, his mixing was off and after a few embarassing slipups File took over all the mixing, leaving Lavelle to cheer the crowd on and handle the track selection. Loved loved loved hearing "The Rain" at the opening and then acapella bits again towards the end. My 1st time hearing it on a large soundsystem and it's even more amazing than I remembered.

Kudos to Richard File for not only making up for Lavelle's shortcomings but pulling off a high energy, techy show that had UNKLE fans jumping and grinning their heads off.

I think File really is a great producer/dj but he has Lavelle bringing him down. Some of his Tigerstyle stuff is off the hook
