MSNBC has officially removed olberman and matthews from their election coverage desk for being too Pro Obama.

the GOP convention, during palin's speech that attacked the media, started chanting NBC< NBC
then tom brokaw said they both have gone way too far in regards to journalistic integrity....

    any thoughts on this???

did tom brokaw take their spot? they may have been gushing a little bit, but it was nothing compared to the gushing wet kisses given to palin and mccain all week long by brit hume, fred barnes and company over at fox. come on, did anyone listen to sean hannity these last few days?

seriously, and this is directed right at you, why would anyone bother watching fox news.... its the dumbest network out there. the only they cover well is the market watch.

        and david gregory took over.

glad to see those assholes gone. they were way past journalism. i remember seeing the little headline when palin got the vp nomination: how many houses does she add to the mccain ticket?

          really stupid, annoying guys.

I love Keith Olbermann on Countdown, but he's openly partisan and had no business anchoring the coverage. He should have been a part of the coverage as an analyst, but he should not have been the anchor.

Matthews is a closer call, because he's torn Obama supporters a new one and would appear to favor gotcha moments generally rather than favoring any particular candidate, but that "chill up my leg" comment is enough to call into question his bias, so he should have been given an analyst-only role, too, IMO.

oh and did anyone see the collage of fox anchors the day after michelle obama's speech calling it "generic", and not patriotic enough?

sorry, but whatever it is that michelle obama says or does is nothing compared to the unpatrioticness (word?) of the palins, who are deeply affiliated with the alaskan independence party. and not to get off on a rant here, but cindy mccain wore $280,000 in diamonds and $30,000 in couture the first day of the RNC, yet OBAMA is the elitist??? makes me wanna fling my laptop across the room!

wow this is amazingly hypocritical. has anyone ever listened to ABC or CBS AM radio? it's hyper-right wing. you've got rush, mark levin, michael savage, all with ludicrously extremist views and never a peep out of anyone. so is it because olberman is on TV instead of the radio? so it's okay for networks to employ partisans on the radio but not on TV? should the distortion of networks now be separated by demographic, with liberal idealogy being broadcast to younger crowds via TV and internet, and conservative idealogy being broadcast to the aging?

actually, i bet using google analytics they're able to tell even more people what that want to hear. and no one cares. great.

I've always thought it very appropriate that outdated, antiquated ideology is broadcast on an outdated, antiquated medium like AM radio.

Re: olberman and matthews taken off the election desk

I do think there is a difference between coverage that purports to be reporting and that which purports to be commentary. Fox News has long since discarded any attempt to differentiate the two, and the cat is now out of the bag and people know that Fox is not a legitimate news organization. After sucking wind for a long time, MSNBC finally found its first success with liberal programming (Countdown) and probably leaned too far that direction in their campaign coverage; I think they might have been concerned that having their primary liberal commentary guy (Olbermann) in effect doing the reporting was blurring that line too much and would lead to the same loss of credibility that Fox has, just in the other direction.

Fox no longer tries to do straight reporting. Looks like MSNBC is going to try.

Totally talking out of my ass here, by the way. My wild ass guess as to why they did what they did, nothing more.

yea, fair and balanced my ass... most people don't realize that's a jab at the democrats going back to when raegan abolished the equal time clause. i think brit hume must chuckle to himself every time he closes out special report by saying "fair, balanced, and unafraid". anyway, fox may deliberately not strive to keep things balanced, but the majority of its audience sees it as a force of truth and justice, out to smash the lies of the liberal "drive by" media. people need to wake up. morpheus needs to start making some phone calls.

chris matthews is a FUCKING SCUMBAG after the shit went down with imus. he was on imus's show nearly daily, got his forum, and when it hit, he couldnt be found. and russert as well, but he got his in the end i guess. shady one he was. nothinhg realted to his unfortunate death, but he had gotten in alot of trouble with MSNBC and the parent Corp NBC media. they were ready to pull him off certain political coverages and his daily evening show was about to be cancelled.
edited for terrible choice of wording.

are you just trying to be an asshole, or do you really believe what you just typed?

come on dude, that's ridiculous. please lay out the argument that russert was a "shady one" and deserved to die, which is what you're saying.

Olberman, while going out on a limb with his thoughts on Pres. Bush, I think might have crossed the line with his ramblings...Don't get me wrong though, I respect the shit out of him with having the courage to stand up to the administration, but I do believe that it has gotten him in trouble. He took it to the next level.
