Re: Sitting on the deck chair's of the titanic (pt.1)

sightless I would ask you this: how to change this system? frankly, it's impossible as far as I know. only either violent revolution or some sort of massive meltdown like a major war on US soil would really change it. two party system has control over everyone except a small minority. part of it is systemic: everyone can vote, yet one need not be educated nor politically aware. thus the critical mass of voters cannot be swayed by smaller parties.
there is. dilute the vote. break thier grasp, let them know
WE WANT A THIRD OPTION !!!!
SOMETHING IN THE MIDDLE MAKES SENSE. !!!!

even at teh grassroots level, voting the independents will put the fear in them. there shold never be an option for violence, never, not domestically whre we can vote, unlike certain other countries. imagine if barr or RPaul won this election out nowhere... they would have zero options other than working together. for exmaple : we live in a country where people will bitch and moan about darfur, but those same people will go batshit if we used military options, even knowing that it is the only option there at this point. we have a party here that opposes gun rights and hunting (i beleive that hand guns shuold be banned, not rifles for hunting), but yet, they have spent 30 years telling us its OK to kill a baby, while debating, when is a baby actually a human. comon, noone sees the irony in this?

        ^this.

throughout history the only thing that brings about massive change is a revolution. which is kinda what i was eluding to in a post before the holiday a few weeks ago, the system probably isn't going to change in my lifetime. the only thing i can do is deal a blow to the party that has fucked us up for the last 8 years, and vote them out of office and hope one of these times the result is something better.

another orange revolution would do it. they did it peacefully, and we have the clear ability to do so. check the third box come novemeber, at all levels. even locally.

and in reagrds to voting with the far left, FAR LEFT, not the slight left, rememebr, socialistic forms of governemtn killed more people since 1850 than both world wars.

excuse me, but where in any of my posts, did i say i am pro mccain. i am anti mccain, AND, anti obama. like i said, something in the middle makes sense. personally i despise the leadership in the middle east and most of what it stands for,(not the religion, but religion dominating policy and eroision of rights). if i had the option, i would just cut all funding to the area outside of isreal, and focus on latin america and central america. the effort in the middle east is a WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. they dont want help, most of them despise us and our culture, so why are we devoting time for thier oil when we could be shoring up our own hemisphere and focusing on its success, all the while, we could be fostering a togetherness with european nations, bringing our extremely similar societies and economies together as one.

but, due to gov't stalls we are losing billions and losing lives. we should have leveled afghanistan and northeastern pakistan without regard. we should have acted like the axis powers in ww2 and just destroyed things until bi laden showed up or was outed by the reasonable people there. then we could have been home already.

got that right. but usually, im the most reasonable when it comes to devil advocating.

                  example:

in regards to the advent of nuclear power. iran clearly has alternative intentions, contrary to what they say. and they say if the US has the right, we have the right. why dont nations come to an agreement whereas iran can implement some of their nationals to be permanent monitors at OUR nuke plants, and the US or whomever, cuold staff monitors at theirs. a mutual double checking if you choose those words, that way, we ensure they arent producing bombgrade, and they are getting power.

                  example2:

gay rights. frankly, i find it vile that a church can tell a governmeent that ppl cant have rights.. but coming from an irish, italian family, i understand why the religious beleive it to be a mockery. not my thoughts, but i can empathize to them. so why not handle it this way. give the GLBT community EVERY FUCKING RIGHT THEY DESERVE FOR BEING A HUMAN BEING IN AMERICA, but just call it a union. no church is performing the sacrement anyway. so the term marriage can be protected for those in the church's way of thinking, and the GLBT can enjoy the legal reights and recognition they deserve. so what if it isnt officially called marriage, but a union. give them the tax benifits, the right to survivorship, famliy care, etc etc/ that way, everyone wins with little sacrifice.

I'm definitely with you on example 2, but example 1 is a particularly great devil's advocate question that I've always wondered myself. It's easy to see where Iran considers the US to be hypocritical, because we're trying to play the role of "world dictator" (which I absolutely believe we should NOT be doing). But to expand the idea further, why don't we let the UN monitor our elections, for example? If we're so adamant about being able to inspect Iran's nuclear facilities and the like, how about we set the example first and let our stuff be inspected? It does seem a bit hypocritical, no?

You can't have manslaughter without laughter.

"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl."

my point exactly, find countries we see as enemies and let them keep a staff at our plants. and vice versa.

yep. not to mention, we're the only country that has ever used nuclear weapons in war. so if i were iran, i don't really blame them for pissing up the USA flagpole.
