Nothing the size that's resulting from a dying star.
The theories I've heard saying that mini black holes will destroy the planet stem from the idea that yes, there are cosmic rays constantly creating them everywhere, but the speed of the cosmic rays (and therefore the black holes) is too fast to be caught by gravitational fields. These theorist's fears with the LHC is that the black holes will only be traveling ~9 km/s which is slow enough to get caught in the earth's gravitational field. Unable to escape the earth's pull, the black hole would take approximately 50 months (by their calculations) to consume the matter of the entire planet.

EDIT: Holy shit I just realized that if you believe in the Mayan calendar, exactly 50 months from Oct. 21, 2008 is December 21, 2012, the day their calendar ends. Coincidence???

Either way this is gonna be some sick shit.

You can't have manslaughter without laughter.

"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl."

I think that the 2012 year is just a total noob mis-interpretation of the mayan calendar. I mean no one knows their language or hieroglyphs and what we have learnt so far is based on what people have dissected.

iirc the year 2012 is simply the year that the earth finishes a rotation around it's axis, an event that happens once every 25,000 years. And considering the earth has been in existence for the last 3.5 billion years and completed more than a sufficient number of these spins, proves rather clearly that there'd be no reason to get outta dodge

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here's a cheesy ms paint mock up. this spin takes 25,000 years. Perhaps rotate wasn't the right word but a spin.

video feed doesnt have anything to do with my ms paint mock up, the video feed is what is happening at CERN right now.

                      also, I dont understand this

the earth revolves around the sun each earth year, it rotates on its axis every 24 earth hours, and while the southern axis is fixed, the northern axis rotates and this rotation completes every 25,000 years, that is what I wanted to show in the ms paint image.
