I got pics and video. But I will upload them in the morning. I need to smoke this nice phat joint and just close my eyes and replay the amazingness in my head.Comment

Re: digweed last night
sooo, got to see the man in action here in Calgary last night. he absolutely rocked it. great driving dark tracks, only recognized a few, like "Lemon 8 - New York New York (Patch Park Remix)", and a few songs from some recent kiss shows.
i must admit i enjoyed his set more in toronto when i went to see him and sasha play (and it only ended up being him). that was mainly due to the level of production that went into that night...the giant LED screens behind them, and the fact that he played 2 hours longer in t-dot.
my camera was fucked, so unfortunately i have no pics or videos, though I have some friends who may be able to pass along some good quality photos.
the thing that really topped off the evening was getting to meet him after the show. conversation went something like this:
"hey john, i'm a really big fan. I'm a memeber on mercuryserver"
him: "ohh really, whats your handle on there, i'll check you out" <---that right there threw me for a loop.
me: "umm uh, day_for_night"
we chit chatted about the show for a bit. then i mentioned to him that i was going to fly to london to see him for the bedrock anniversary party, to which he said "oh mate, you haven't heard, thats been canceled", followed by a big grin. john was fucking with me. i told him he could refund my plane ticket if it were true, to which he laughed.
he genuinely seemed flattered that i was flying all the way there just to see the show, and even commented "thats a long flight to come see me play"
he asked if i already had a ticket to the show (i do), so instead he reaches into his bag and grabs the new Guy J album (some of which is still not released, afaik), signs it and hands it to me. it gave me flashbacks of the movie 'groove' of all things. he made a specific point of telling me not to upload it anywhere, and commented how file sharing "is just killing the artists". thought that was pretty poignant coming from a guy who owns one of the biggest record lables in dance music.
i complimented him on his new djcovermag mix, which he again seemed genuinely flattered by. i said its the best free mix i've ever heard...
told him i would make an attempt to say hi at the show at matter, and asked if he had a chance to check the place out (knowing full well he had). he said fabric has put an unbelievable amount of detail into the place ("the little things" was the phrase) that make it an amazing venue.
at that point they were taking him back to the hotel, and i had to go home and crash for work today (i am definitely moving a bit slow, lol). i said goodbye, and to look for the guy at the bedrock party holding the sign saying "i flew 4,000 miles to be here".
all and all, a fantastic experience. really lucky to get to chat with him one on one, and owe the promoter big for letting me up to speak with him (he knows how big a fan i am).[quote=lilsensa '] 'Who wants to sample size my ball sack?'Comment

Re: digweed last night
I met john after a gig in Southampton earlier this year, he certainly does have a sense of humour...
Me (drunk): Hi John, im a big fan, ive even got a t-shirt (points to bedrock t-shirt)
John: Hi, nice to meet you, by the way, thats last years shirt. Buy a new one
Me: Oh... ok....
(dejected drunken fan feeling stupid in front of friends)
Made me laugh afterwards though! Quality set so ill let him offComment

Re: digweed last night
He's got a great sense of humour - after his Liverpoo Uni'04 date he handed a tune from his box back to the 3-Beat Records guys telling them it was complete shite and to send him better stuff next time !sigpicSimonR
This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.Comment

Re: digweed last night
Jeff, we want a pic of you with the new Guy J album.
That story makes me wanna go watch Groove again tonight. Awesome stuff bro. Kinda also reminds me of the JZ story where he just gave the person who said they liked the track the cd he was playing it on. You gotta love how nice these guys can be. I wonder if you'd get the same treatment with Oakenblah.Comment
