Heading to DC

Hello everyone.

I'm heading down to DC on the last weekend of the month, 26, 27 and part of 28th for an arts symposium at the Philips Collection on Saturday.

I'm perhaps going to be staying at one of the Hyatt hotels in the neighborhood. And am wondering if there is anything good other than Art/Museum wise going on in the city that weekend? I'm driving down so I'll have the ability to travel a bit, But I don't wanna travel unless it's a really good idea.

Any thoughts pertaining to the trip?

September 27, 10 am–5 pm
Engage in a discussion of the state of contemporary painting from a range of perspectives. Participants include: Elizabeth Sussman, curator of photography at the Whitney Museum of American Art; Blake Gopnik, chief art critic of the Washington Post; artists Spencer Finch and Laura Owens; gallery directors Leng Lin (Pace Beijing) and Andrea Pollan (Curator’s Office); and Dorothy Kosinski, director of The Phillips Collection, among others.

i heard a rumor that carl craig might be playing @ LODA in silverspring MD. dunu if its true, but ill find out wuts going on and let u know. im sure there will be something happening.

hey I live in DC, and let me see if I can get kamal to come down that weekend too. Will look into whats going on and get back to you. Unfortunately, DC is not what it used to be...(thus, my statement under "location").

Hey Jeffery, congrats again on the new record, Carl Craig is spinning at Loda that weekend and DJ Three is in DC on Thurs. night 25th. As far as other art/cultural events in the district, the Washington Post in Sunday's 9/14 Style/Arts, lists the fall 08 preview is everything you would need to know in the city. Go check a local Borders/bookstore which should have this information.

What is with this LODA place. Are they trying to do like the gallery back in the 70's when you had to have a membership because it was more of a private party. Sounds like fun. Let's get it going on for there.

On my way down there early tomorrow morning.

You know I'm going to be heading to DC around 3-4AM from here, so I don't know if i'm really going to be in any condition to make a dj event that same night.

Anyone know of anything going on Saturday?
