    R.I.P. Richard Wright

richard wright, founding member of pink floyd has passed away from his bout with cancer today...

i am gutted, my favorite band of all time, and very very important influence in mylife.

probably the most influential rock band of all of time outside of the beatles and often quoted as THE best rock band by rockers today. (given the beatles influence over pop music).

man... i remember the first time i saw Pulse and he had the opening lines to shine on you crazy diamond....

shine on richard, shine on. thanks for the memories...

+1, grew up listening to these guys, started the first time I heard "Dark Side of the Moon" and I've been a HUGE fan and collector of their music since, last time I saw them together was in 1994 on the"Division Bell Tour".

*** Richard Wright & Pink Floyds legacy will Shine On eternally.

    RIP brother!!!

      RIP

correction. They are the greatest band that ever lived. No band will ever touch their musical genius.

never saw them live and i guess i never will now since its completely impossible for the band to reunite again even if hell freezes over and Waters and Gilmour would perform again on the same stage since Richard Wright is no longer around

            Re: R.I.P. Richard Wright

I was stunned and saddened when I heard this news on my way home this evening

I cant even being to tell you what this band, THE band has meant to me over the years. My first introduction to them was my father taking me to the world premier of the movie "The Wall". I was pretty young and I really had no idea what was going on, but I remember it is such a special moment to me growing up. I finally got to see them live at Tampa Stadium in 1994 for the Division Bell tour and experienced probably one of their final live performances of Dark Side Of The Moon.. hands down THE best show I have ever witnessed.

As someone said even if the row between Waters and Gilmour can be settled and they perform together, it wont be Pink Floyd, and actualy I am ok with that. I'm not ok with this news, but we have some of the most amazing music ever created to take with us for the rest of our lives.

            RIP Mr Richard Wright

have to say though, Syd Barrett was also a founding member and sadly enough, that's two of them have passed on

                    Re: R.I.P. Richard Wright

This is very sad. Pink Floyd was a huge influence on me early in my early in my life and still are till this day. I saw them in 1994 for division bell and I also saw roger waters in 2000. I never really was much of a fan of anyting after dark side though...i am more into there psycedelic and progressive early material such as meddle animals uma gunnma ect......just amazing music and nobody will ever compare to them.

I hope you all have scene the movie Pompeii its a classic and really shows you want floyd is all about.

I wish I could find this picture of an exhibit that was or is at the rock n roll hall of fame.. it looks like the Wall on the album cover and in that very recognisable writing is Roger Waters' explanation of why and how he came up with the idea of The Wall.. looking all over I cant find it

the highlight of my trip to europe in '04 was when i went to pompeii. i lugged my laptop all over the city itself seeing the sights and then made my way to the amphitheatre. walked into it from the entrance that the trucks in the movie came through, walked over and sat in the shade with my back against the innerwall and watched ' Live At Pompeii, ' live at pompeii.
