This dude is seriously out of touch with reality. As they do pretty much every day, the Obama campaign released this morning the text of a speech Obama intended to give later today. Because all indications were that the bailout bill would go through when it came up for vote this afternoon, the speech, as initially prepared and released, referenced the fact that, "today, Democrats and Republicans in Washington have agreed on an emergency rescue plan." Shortly before he went on, the news of the bill failing came out, and the speech was changed -- it was not delivered as prepared.

Undeterred, Tucker Bounds released the following statement on behalf of the McCain campaign:

"When Barack Obama released remarks today that praised the passage of America's economic rescue plan, just before his allies in Congress voted to kill it, it revealed just how out of touch Barack Obama has been during this crisis," Bounds said, adding Obama has "shown failed leadership we can't afford."

OK, number 1, the speech was never even given that way.
Number 2, though, and far more importantly, "[Obama's] allied in Congress voted to kill it?" Check the vote roll, dude. Wrong on all counts.

nope -- not seeing it on cspan, and thomas isn't any more helpful. Part of the problem is that the house used an existing bill (probably an enabling act) as the vehicle for this bailout, rather than creating a whole new bill. Your search is as good as mine at this point.
