I believe this to be an accurate number, was verified some time ago by te red cross. How about Iraqi National Guard deaths, I believe they were whiped out over night. Before the invasion, Newsweek reported there were 250,000 Iraqi Guardsmen total. Again, a rough number.
Very sad for the Iraqi people... but still not close to the numbers found in the mass graves. The military claims that the use of smart bombs would reduce the amount of casualties, but that obviously doesn't affect those caught in the crossfire. War sux... yes it does.
