            anytime huggs!

            ---

there's a ton of good shit out nowadays, dusk. i prefer "golden age hip hop" which was from the late 80's and early 90's -- any day of the week, so my recommends will be more true school and old school oriented. if you know what acts to look for, it makes it much easier. what style of "regular kind" do you like? artists? cliques? etc?

For starters I don't like my hip hop/rap extremely explicit, favs include Jurassic 5, Blackalicious, Deltron 3030, Dj Shadow, Common, a little bit tof Outkast, Nas, and Talib Kweli and my favourite underground artist - Mars ill.

                Re: Chilled Hip-Hop

o hell yeah dusk; diggin ur style. what southern california lacks (severly) in terms of a bangin electronic dance music scene -- it makes up for big time with it's conscious hip hop scene. have actually seen quite a few of those acts do shows out here, and each show has been amazing.

gonna be spinnin hip hop, b-boy battle breaks, and rare groove more often... so some sets will be in order.

i just re-read this thread, all quality recommends. here's another valuable asset, like the above blog i suggested - it is linked with a galaxy of conscious, chill and true school sources - all with a ton of content. good stuff to peruse thru and explore.

I don't really know much about hip hop, but heard this quality tune on Everything but the Girl's Back to Mine - which, having only heard it for the first time this year, is also my CD of the year

                                Thievery Corp are essential.

Someone also mentioned Zero 7. If you like these guys, check out Fragile State. One of the lads originally in Zero 7 started Fragile State. However, think they might have folded. They have a nice chilled album called Songs from the dust-bowl. I'm working on collaring their other stuff
