Every once in a while we all endure what one could describe as a sabbatical and over the last 2 years, the quintessential house imprint RIP has been taking a well earned rest. During this time, it's collective family have further diversified, the Soul Mekanik duo of Kelvin Andrews and Danny Spencer once again furthering the career of Robbie Williams, while label founder Chris Bourne found himself inspired by the new sounds of house on his travels and upon returning from the sun-drenched beaches of Miami and the surfer's paradise of Maui, so came the return of the acclaimed Tarrentella project, returning after it's own 3 year hiatus.
Many will remember the early Tarrentella singles that graced London's Whoop Records imprint, and also the collaborative ventures with such names as Danny Tenaglia, Satoshi Tomiie and Sander Kleinenberg. Then there was an impressive remixography that included reinterpretations of such classics such as Derrick May's 'Strings Of Life', Duran Duran's 'Ordinary World' and the 'Gladiator' movie score, but few will be prepared for what is to come, with the storming house release Adma (RIP039) spearheading a new body of work that also includes the deep, organic grooves of Jigsaw (RIP041).
2009 will also see the debut album from latest RIP signing Politeca, an
audio and visual project that as Chris explains "focuses on the realities of
the world we live in" and what promises to be a real eye opener with it's
innovation, plus new material from the rest of the RIP family including Soul Mekanik and Redanka. Once again the label aims to provide more great house music with genuine heart and soul, with the label's extensive back catalogue soon to be available on I-Tunes, Beatport and all other respected digital music outlets, leading to the release of Tarrentella's 'Adma' and 'Jigsaw' on November 17th on the newly formed “ripdigital” imprint.
