    New Music 'Fad'...Acid?

Curious if anyone else has been noticing this, but the newest/evolving music 'fad' lately seems to be acid.

It seemed to dawn on me more so as I put together my mix for MercuryPromote, that it's not an explosion per say, but slowly more and more mixes are being done with that 303 sound tweaked and twirled like the old days (but with the more modern house beats dropped down).

    Anyone else catch this?

Yup, I used some of it in my mix, too. Gives it a nice sleazy sound.

It's been used more and more of late, you're right about. Disadvantage of this is it's hard to find the good ones...a lot of anyone-can do-the-acid-trick shit going round. Works very nice in prog breaks, though.

im usually not a fan of acid sounds but ive heard a few tracks where they took the base sound of it.. whatever.. i lost my train of thought on that one cause my smoke detectors started to freak.. but ive noticed it also..

I'm done with the whole 303 acid craze...especially with Josh Wink's, "I Am Ready." track...let it rest there.

303 is the new thing that every seems to be using again. I am glad to see acid house making a coming back. But I try to find tracks that not acid. I don't want to do whjat everyone else is now. Do your own thing and as long as it gets people on the dancefloor. What does it really matter anyways.

Not a fan... I really don't like the high pitched squelching noises... if there's a 303 bassline that rumbles rather than squeals then I'm all for it, but the nasty Josh Wink sounding stuff... PASS.

By labelling something a fad or trend means you are past it. I guess its hard for me to explain but when someone says "this is the new trend" then proceeds to follow this trend, shows me a huge lack of creativity and self expression. I see it often times in design. Heres a tip, a valuable one at that, move on past this to what you feel like doing, whats inside of you and maybe someday people will call what you are doing a fad or trend. Following trends and fads isn't the road to becoming a great artist, history will tell you that much. Good luck
