        Re: O One Ortofon Dj Headphones

        I noticed the Ortofon "O Ones" and the Ultrasone "DJ One Pros" look identical.

        1. Finger grooves around adjustment area
        2. Ticks on adjustment arm
        3. S-Logic logo above adjustment (Ultrasone owns the patent for S-Logic)
        4. Bars on either side of the logo on top of headrest
        5. Padding on underside of headrest
        6. Cans look the same
        7. Removable cable

        So I started checking into it and though the "shell" may be provided by the same manufacturer, the monitors themselves are different.

        Ortofon O One

        * gold-plated plugs
        * plugs with 3,5/6,3 mm
        * Weight: 295 g
        * Cable and earcups are changeable
        * Dynamic principle
        * Closed design
        * Frequence range 10-22.000 Hz
        * Single-sided cable
        * Sound Pressure level: 112 dB
        * Single-sided monitoring
        * S-Logic (Natural Surround Sound)
        * Impedance: 40 Ohm
        * with bag

        Ultrasone DJ One Pro

        # Foldable, closed professional headphones
        # S-Logic Natural Surround Sound
        # Frequency range 10-22.000 Hz
        # Impedance 64 Ohm
        # Sound pressure level 102 dB
        # MU Metal bufferboard, reduced field emissions in accordance with ULE standard
        # Driver 50mm Mylar
        # Two detachable cables; one coiled (3m) and one coiled with volume control and stereo/mono switch (3m)
        # Spare pair of speed-switch ear pads
        # Weight 295 g (without cord)

        The 10 dB difference in SPL is well worth the extra $50 for the Ultrasones. Not to mention radiation protection and a sweet case vs a bag.

          Nice comparison man...cheers....but how much difference a 10db will do ? maybe in a club it is more noticeable.?

            I'm sure each of those HP's will block a bunch of noise from the club when trying to mix.

              This is not an issue of volume. One headphone would not sound substantially louder than the other. The Ultrasones with an SPL level 10 dB lower than the Ortofons would cause MUCH less fatigue and damage to your ears.

              Notice that HEARING DAMAGE -due to SHORT TERM exposure- occurs @ 120 dB.

              Threshold of pain 100 Pa 130 dB
              Hearing damage (due to short-term exposure) 20 Pa approx. 120 dB
              Jet at 100 m 6 – 200 Pa 110 – 140 dB
              Jack hammer at 1 m 2 Pa approx. 100 dB
              Hearing damage (due to long-term exposure) 6×10−1 Pa approx. 85 dB Major road at 10 m 2×10−1 – 6×10−1 Pa 80 – 90 dB
              Passenger car at 10 m 2×10−2 – 2×10−1 Pa 60 – 80 dB TV (set at home level) at 1 m 2×10−2 Pa approx. 60 dB Normal talking at 1 m 2×10−3 – 2×10−2 Pa 40 – 60 dB Very calm room 2×10−4 – 6×10−4 Pa 20 – 30 dB Leaves rustling, calm breathing 6×10−5 Pa 10 dB
              Auditory threshold at 1 kHz 2×10−5 Pa 0 dB
