it was about 6 hrs before the hurricane actually hit, so the wind was just gusting. unfortunately it was dark by the time i had any sustained winds to work with.Don't let anyone drive you crazy when you know it's in walking distance.

as it turns out, i went to high school with one of the people in the car. my sister was texting the girl, saying ' you're not gonna believe this...' and as they drove by she was thinking, ' who the hell is this idiot... ' needless to say, i made her hurricane experience worthwhile.
that was actually the second time the cops drove by. they didn't stop so i don't know if they ever really saw me.
and i got the idea from a pic i saw after katrina when a guy in baton rouge was hovering about 4 ft off the ground during that storm. but he didn't have any rain to deal with and he had some pretty strong sustained winds to play with.
in all it was a learning experience. i know now i need a field with no trees to block the wind. and i need to prefab my cape/tarp contraption instead of grabbing a roll of duct tape and running with it. so until next hurricane season...Don't let anyone drive you crazy when you know it's in walking distance.
