    Re: The Earth

While I think corporations have an environmental responsibility, I believe that we the consumer have a larger one. We need to let them know that they can't have our money until things change. I've made a huge effort to try not to buy plastic. It's a very hard one because everything seems to be made out of it. I'm also a vegetarian, have been for 20 odd years. I stay away from Walmart. You know...do the best I can. We all have the choice to make change.

You do know we have a rabbit problem in Australia

I'm watching a program at the moment which says that our Great Barrier Reef will no longer exist within thirty years.

                    Re: The Earth

OMG I was in a discussion last night with two academics who thought they were the smartest people ever. They concluded that we should just stick up windmills on top of skyscrapers to power buildings. Now with my electrician background I explained how windmills don't produce enough electricity to power such huge loads. I further explained that in manufacturing plants they use huge 1000 ton presses with 600v 200Amp loads and how would we get enough power to power them?? The answer i got was to "just put up more".

Then I asked what happens if it isn't windy??
Put up enough so places where it is windy can power the places where it isn't windy.

Then I asked what about all the pollution (copper production) to manufacture all these windmills?
                    No answer

Then I asked what about all the maintenance on all these millions of windmills?
Well we are actually creating jobs.

PS Oh ya I forgot to add that everone should have a windmill on their house as well to power their house. With their roof made of solar panels. I didn't even get into how would we be able to bill the electricity because I new that would be a little to much for them.

                      here is an idea/

we humans need to really turn it up a notch in the taking full responsibility of ourselves, and the natural state of the planet department; as well as stepping it up, and ceasing to fuck like rabbits and living like hogs.

portions of continents submerging, or any freak shit doesn't sound all that bad!
