so if its all about tax and money then what about the other things republicans argue over... like females rights to their bodies, abortions, heathcare, and all the sort of social aspects of society that the republicans generally dumb down... .

are you guys anti abortion? and if not how can you be part of a party that is?

just trying to understand how you guys break things up of importance... is obvious the republicans don't respect women nor their bodies and that goes wayyyyy back to the religious right.

what do you guys feel about that? having religious so intermixed in our politics and pushed upon us?

do you guys not think being an openminded person and allowing the freedom and protection of us all is a good thing? i hear liberals get such a bad name as if its so wrong to want equality, etc. lol.

That is why I am an independent and not a republican. I think there are many cases where an abortion should be the woman’s choice. I am for gay rights as well. But I am not going to make that a deciding factor in my vote. I care more about how much control the government has in our lives.
As for healthcare let me decide who I want to get healthcare from. Let the people deal directly with the providers and not have to depend on working for a big company to get decent healthcare. Also, don’t nationalize it. It doesn’t work. The government is not the answer to our problems, they are the problem.

liberals tend to take the position that is against property rights, though I give them high marks on property rights of the person, that is, pro-choice. Otherwise, they're pretty dogshit on the rest.

i am proudly pro choice, pro gay rights, and i believe in nationalizing pharmaceudical copmanies. no one should make a dime off of curing cancer or aids. healthcare itself, has shown to go negative in socialised healthcare. the smarter doctors go where the money is. and they have every right to. just like you can pick the higher ticket between two club nights vying for your services. but to counter this, i also, and its in the threads, beleive in a socialised insurance system, that can be opted out of for better coverage for those can afford/want it. but when you take the two ideas i present and mix them with halthcare itself(doctors), it goes downhill. the medical professions in these areas are limited in service, have lower success, lower levels of care(quality) etc.

if i'm reading between the lines here, this makes you an authoritarian. no?

Here's how it worked for me...
When I was in college, I was a liberal. Sure, help EVERYONE, was my way of thinking...
Being out of college, and realizing that free handouts are no longer going to happen, that's when I realized that lower taxes are going to help me out.

That's about as simple as I can describe it.

Young people, that aren't in the workforce, or who do not have a mortgage, or do not have to pay property taxes, do not understand what it means to be liberal, IMO.

It's a damn good thing that I don't listen/watch MTV or the local rap stations anymore, because being a democrat and voting for Barack Obama has been shoved down every listener/viewers throats...It's also a damn good thing that I'm not as impressionable as I once was...

not at all. i simply beleive that everyone has rights. including the right to make money, and the right to walk into a hospital and be treated. the only contradictory part would be that the rich person would have better doctors.

other than that i dunno. if you think that my opinion about medicinal profits is skewed, go find a single parent who has a child with cancer. i have through volunteer work with charities, trust me, its a real reality show fof TV that would bring emotions you never felt.

Actually, no hospital can turn someone away. However a child with cancer is another story. I donate every year for cancer, especially where children are concerned. Nationalizing health care would make it even worse for them to get treatment.

I do not mind paying extra in taxes only if the money is guaranteed to go to children fighting terminal illnesses.

where are we missing each other. i am hell beant against nationalizing healthcare. healthcare does not equal a chemical company who researches medicine. medicine should be sold at cost. there shuold be no marketing. it either serves its purpose or it doesnt, and if a better option is out there, it should replace the lessor.

this doesnt mean nationlalizing the healthcare. it just means ensuring medicine(prescriptions and treatments) is available.

i am conservative for some of the reasons posted above (taxation, govt control, property rights) and i am pro-life (exception being rape - chloe says who gives people rights over women's bodies? well when you have a baby in your womb, it's no longer just your body now, is it? liberals/democrats want rights for prisoners in guantanamo and are against death penalty, yet they support killing of innocent babies), i am pro-gay-rights (i am all for allowing them unions equal under the law as long as they are not called marriages.

Same here...Except I will not kill an animal. Just can't, with the exception that me or a loved one's life is in danger. Then it's kill or be killed, IMO.
