I know most of on here have tons of music but when is enough, enough? I have more than I'll ever need or listen to but I can't bring myself to delete or stop downloading new sets. Fabric called it OSD (Obsessive Set Disorder). I downloaded like 12 Holosound sets the other day. Alex would be happy but how am I gonna listen to all that? There's some stuff like sasha, lawler, digweed, luke fair, and most of the pre 2005 stuff that I treasure I won't let go. How have others here dealt with this? I find myself about to delete stuff and find it very difficult. Some feedback serious or otherwise would be appreciated. Thanks Jeff

Re: Music Addiction
"hi my name is matt and i'm a terminal music addict." -- "hi matt."
what i try to do is lessen my music intake with calm, thought out moderation, organization and themed genre days for listening. never take for granted a single good set, rhythm or a melody.
you can always play the music in your head too -- when going cold turkey. i just tell myself to cherish each moment of the sound, as well as workin at maintaining a sound determination, coupled with a sincere effort, to not abuse my hearing! always listening though, even in the silence of that soundless sound from day to day.
try to avoid developing tinnitus too.(((( }-d|-__-|b-{ ))))Comment

Re: Music Addiction
like mr woE said. Limit yourself to what you download. pick and choose. Sometimes after downloading sets that don't really move me I delete them and have no problem with that.
but if you just can't remove permanently then start storing them on dvd cd's. Organize artists or genres and back them up on dvd's. Sounds like a bitch, but trust me; once its done you can free up your drive and it will all seem much more better, cleaner... vacant.
then you can just refer back to the discs...Comment

Re: Music Addiction
well guys, I've had Advanced OSD for the past 9 or 10 years, I've been doing this since back in the Kazaa, WinMx days until now, I have over 2.8 TB of music (EDM, Jazz, Rock, etc).
** My advice is allocate an hour or so a day to catch up on the tunage, in passing I'll jump onto ms or other sites I frequent, then onto the days biz at hand, work, surfing, etc., just don't let the OSD keep you from day to day life, especially if you're married, just remember its a hobbyComment

Re: Music Addiction
I used to be one of the biggest set whores on the planet.
i pretty much stopped downloading sets a year or so ago, and i enjoy club music so much more when i play or go out these days. if one comes around that's highly recommended, that gets a lot of buzz, i'll grab it, but im just not that interested in listening to club music outside of the club.
downtempo, hip hop, bands, elecro (the real stuff), indie, etc, i'm all over, but listening to dj so and so live from this or that- not that interested, especially when said dj puts out a new set every fking week. djs put out WAY too much music these days because it's easy to do so. it takes away from it all imo, devalues the party- stop.Comment

Re: Music Addiction
I just have Download Disorder in general. I like downloading stuff be it movies, music, porn, tv, apps, games. If my internet connection is idling, I feel like I'm not getting the most out of it.

Re: Music Addiction
there is a how much music do you have thread here:
I just bought a 250gb external hard drive and put all the electronic music I've been collecting since 1998. So far without most of my purchased cds added, the figures are: 2086 files @ 175.78gb that would play continuously for 97.4 days! (all of this is legal of course, mostly live sets) I think it's time to throw a

Re: Music Addiction
I'm enjoying replaying the older stuff but putting it on my i-pod and blasting it at home - now I've got 4 x hours of JD from Club Yellow 2001 to work through again ... loved it at the time.

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.Comment
