actually no, its not flimsy and i can scratch 10x better on a denon than a pos pioneer.

The only Denon CDJ thats worth anything IMHO is the DN-S3500. I personally tested these when they first came out IMHO the only CDJ's that feel close to a turntable's level of torque other than the T=echnics which IMO were too expensive and had overheating issues. And they are somewhat affordable. I still think they put too many unneeded and unused features. I believe its the last CDJ that Denon makes or will ever make. Denon DJ division is rumored to counting down its days as are many other DJ equipment manufacturers, either shutting down or cutting back on product line due to the current economic downturn.

Pioneer owns this segment of the electronics industry and will most likely for quite awhile. Working in the consumer electronics and commericial pro A/V/L for a few years, Pioneer has the deep pockets and the technology to keep testing the envelope with tried and true products, maybe not perfect without them we all would be still spinning vinyl IMHO. With Allen & Heath in the second seat and the others like Numark, Stanton and a few others fighting for the mobile DJ and consumer market share.

From knowing all the people that have had Denon CD players. They aren't bad, but they don't last as long as a CDJ-1000 will.

But it's not about the dealers, it's about the company and their greed. They know it really only costs maybe $100-200 to make one, but then they have to jack up the costs to make them seem like the more you pay the better it will be.

I think there should be a boycott on companies like this. Don't buy Pioneer products for a while and see how they like it.

the torque on the numark cd players is tremendous.. but the units themselves are shite

Numark equals lots of plastic. You get what you pay for in most cases. Also, you need to understand the business ideology behind many of these companies. Numark's don't last on purpose, they want you to buy new equipment every couple of years. Durability is not a priority rather affordability.

In most cases, the DJ division is usually the bastard child or R&D pet project of a bigger electronics company. As the technology advances towards computers, DJ software and MIDI interfaces - the traditional" standing DJ companies are loosing ground fast. Adapt or evolve or say goodbye...i.e. Technics (once a dominating profitable division for parent company - Panansonic/Matsushita). Numark has moved towards more video VJ market with some decent success while all others are lost in this transition or convergence.

the only reason Allen & Heath xone DJ is still around is due to it being more of a side project for the parent company. Adopting already proven technology in the Pro Audio mixing desk world to a smaller footprint with minimal modification. IMHO any xone DJ mixer sounds quite a better than any Pioneer mixer currently out. a definite distinctive difference in sound quality when using the same input sources and outputs sources. the richness and dynamic range of xone DJ mixers outclass and out perform the Pioneer DJ mixers.

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.
