    Re: Sarah Palin aftermath thread

    ^ fair point.

My thought is that, if he was going to lose, and if he had to throw a hail mary pass, he should have stuck with a person like Romney, Crist, or Flake for the sake of sanity and the party. and for the off-chance that he could pull off a win. and for his reputation, and for his legacy.

I think you managed to outline all the circumstances as to why Obama won, which I think weigh more heavily than the message he was giving. His substantive policies were not all that great or different, and we're seeing his cabinet is filling up with clintonites and the establishment. His message wasn't all that unique, save for his skin colour. A white person with the same message, you'd have to agree, would never have gained the momentum he did.

All in all, McCain defeated McCain. The same way McCain came to be chosen as the GOP candidate is the same way Obama won the election: the attrition of the opponents and the major mistakes made by everyone else.

to me, that right there was probably McCains biggest downfall. It was clear as daylight that his intensity for a victory was starting to get the better of him and he let the floodgates of blinding-desperation open, especially through the debates. I didnt follow the campaigning long enough to know when the downfall started for him, but I do feel the presidential debates seemed to have sealed it for him.

I think george will has summed it up nicely

Although John McCain’s loss was not as numerically stunning as the 1964 defeat of Barry Goldwater, who won 16 fewer states and 122 fewer electoral votes than McCain seems to have won as of this writing, Tuesday’s trouncing was more dispiriting for conservatives. Goldwater’s loss was constructive; it invigorated his party by reorienting it ideologically. McCain’s loss was sterile, containing no seeds of intellectual rebirth.

          wheeee this is getting FUN!!!

I'll quote some of the highlights later! Hopefully there will be more articles like this bc it will help ensure that we don't have to deal with her again in 4 years!

Now that the defeated Republicans Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin have gone their separated ways, the knives are out and Palin is criticized for spending more than $150,000 on clothes, not knowing Africa was a continent, and wanting to make her own concession speech. Lawyers for the Republican National Committee are going to Alaska to audit the clothing purchases.

Well, we might have our answer now -- I guess some of the members of McCain's staff were Romney supporters before they joined up with McCain. Palin v Romney would appear to be a likely primary battle in 2012 -- ergo, why not try to knock her out of the box now?

Here is your hourly dose of Sarah Palin gossip: rumor has it that the leakers now feverishly promoting the most awful tales of her proud ignorance and white trash spending habits are all former Mitt Romney staffers.

just so disappointed seeing how McCain's camp is now shitting all over Palin by tongue in cheek pointing her out to be the reason McCain didn't win.

It's as if they don't realize that a large part of the reason she cost him so many votes is that people didn't like him for picking her...

you know what's really hurtful? that some friends and family continue to defend this uppity beyotch.

they are CONVINCED, just like the grass in green, that she is awesome.

this is the effect of Faux News.

                          Re: Sarah Palin aftermath thread

Making her the 2012 Republican nominee will just solidify the Republican Party's permanent minority status. There is no way she could ever get more than 50% of the vote, anywhere. She only becomes dangerous when there is a viable third party, which is EXACTLY how she became Governor of Alaska. Watch the 2006 Alaska Governor's debate. After seeing that I was like - "Good God! How did she get elected??" Oh yeah, the other two candidates were outstanding, and she split the difference. Really, you gotta watch it. It's on C-Span.org

I hope she is the future of the Republican Party. She will simply render them, irrelevent.

She has become the object of ridicule. In American politics, that can be very difficult to overcome, especially when the most intelligent people in your own party are leaving in droves. About the only thing she could ever get elected to again is the position of Iron Dog Race Queen (her husband is a two-time winner of this 2000 mile snowmobile race - she says).

I do not like your Christians.
Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.

it would be funny if Obama picked Palin for anything just to shove it up McCains ass... well not really because she is stupid but I wish just to see the look on old man winters face.
