I am more than devasted to report that this is true. Steve was more than loved, but unfortunately sometimes being loved is not enough to make life bearable. Steve passed from this world on November 8, 2008.

I will miss him and will remember always.
Oh Fuck no..RIP STEVE.. Don't tell me he did the unthinkable ? .. U will always be remembered Steve .. Thank u for sharing your musical knowledge on slsk and for your hillarious comments on here ans slsk.. I will never forget u STEVE
I hope he finally found his peace, I cannot imagine how things must've looked for him that he chose this path instead of life. So much talent, and a good heart wasted for this world now. All strenght to his family, and friends.
ROCK ON UP THERE STEVE, I can only imagine you dj-ing in heaven now, for a crowd of angels bouncing on the clouds.
Pretty much all that I have thought about today. As a community of people scattered all over the world ms has touched my life by the fellowship of the people on it.
What comes to mind was Steve's passion of the Shield series which he shared his comments after every episode. This made me feel like I knew him because we had something in common. We will keep you up to speed on how it ends.
My prayers for his family and friend and all the people who knew him.
Hamba Kahle Steve!

The largest room in the world, is the room for improvement!
Oh no !! This is just so awful I j keep thinking that as a member of the MS family could I/we have done anything, but I know we couldn't, by the time it gets to this there is nothing anyone can do . I really hope his friends and family know this. My thoughts and heart go out to them. This is probably the worst way to lose someone.
I remember this thread, http://www.mercuryserver.com/forums/...+Absolute+hero firstly because he got so much out of it and then because so much of what he said would apply to him . I would never have believed it was possible to feel so close to someone you have never met. I wish he knew how much he meant to us.
These posts of his.
chris fortier is a Florida boy. and i'll be damned if any Florida OG can't stand up to the test and come out on top. this makes me proud to hear your story and sad at the same time as i'm sure you lot were pumped to hear an earful of seaman. however, knowing that Fortier stood up and rocked the place several times it a true testament to his ability and upbringing.
at this moment I AM PROUD TO BE A FLORIDA CRACKER!
thats how we have been brought up. play til the crowd leaves. i was born with the same blood as Mr Fortier and at times have been known to get on my knees behind the decks. it's just something we are unable to quit whilst there are people a plenty to listen. I'm actually glowing a bit knowing that chris played til his blood ran thin and am more proud than ever to come from the same place as him. he is, and always will be, an inspiration to people like me.
to chris..
Well goodbye Florida Cracker, I'm so sorry I will never be able to meet you now.
To Steve

I´ll just say that I loved the way he talked about how seeig Digweed live was such an inspiration to him, I remember that bit in his bio on his site, and that was inspiring to me too... I passed a few of his sets around to people @ the board I moderate on...
In a way Steve embodied the love for the music... one of the persons whose posts I most like to read on here.
Steve you were my rock, my confidant but more importantly someone I could proudly call my friend.
I loved you from the bottom of my heart as I know you did me. I am so sad and angry that you are no longer here

Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.
