Re: Missouri Still Not Over
fair enough, I'll be the first person to admit that it's completely irrational to even give a rip given the outcome of the election. Part of it is the amount of work I personally put in in Missouri, and the other part is wanting to feel like I live in a state that shares my values (which I know is not accurate, looking at the state as a whole, but hey, what do you do). At least I won't have to share my celebratory wine with anyone else if the numbers end up working out...Comment

Didi - I thought it was against the law NOT to vote in Australia. The law requires all people to vote in Australia - doesn't it? If so - what are the penalties for not voting?I like your Christ.

Re: Missouri Still Not Over
Compulsory voting is bit of a misnomer, you only actually have to turn up to a polling booth and have your name crossed off. Penalties are actually piss poor When last I noticed it was only a $20 fine. They actually make it very easy to vote. Many booths, and voting is on a Saturday. And of course absentee and pre polling. It's pretty good system actually.Originally posted by TheVrkit IS incredible isn't it??

It's not talking them into voting, it's trying to convince them to vote for the party you want. How to vote cards show the preferences for each party.

Re: Missouri Still Not Over
The different party representatives stand outside and hand out cards which give the voting preferred by any party. You are supposed to be a certain distance from the door but it's not very far. You are definitely not allowed to be inside where the polling is. I think it is the same over there that you can't even have a badge on in the booth area.Originally posted by TheVrkit IS incredible isn't it??
