when i go to change it, it doesn't even have an .exe...i do change to .mp3...then it stays with dos icon...normally it would change to win amp icon....double click to play and it asks me to run or to cancel..

well, to check if the file is corrupted. drag it to your winamp and if you hear it well, is ok...

just in case, follow this link

the Dos icon you're seeing is the standard exe icon for executables that have no icons in them (i.e., mp3 files with a .exe extension). Follow the link that arielus gave you and check out the "why can't I rename the exe" section" and you should be good to go

can it be that the part you downloaded is still tagged with the .001 extension? You need to join both files to ONE single file before you rename it.
