Citi Now to get Bailed Out But Auto's Still get the Shaft

    This is so retarded.

They are going to bailout all the rich people while letting the middle class just get obliterated. Lets see $100 Billion in toxic assets or $50 Billion loan to save the big three and millions of jobs.

^^^ And the reason would be because a major bank and a major auto manufacturer are not the same thing, and their demise impacts the economy in very different ways.

i dont see what that has to do with anything?

Miroslav is right, a major bank like Citibank represents A LOT more (both economically and financially)than the 3 auto company's.

runningman, you must have some family members in the auto industry huh?

Actually, I don't have a single one. I just have an understanding of: (1) the role that major banks like Citi - one of the few largest in the nation - play in the global economy; and (2) the unfortunate structure and situation that has resulted from allowing those major banks to become over-leveraged with relatively new and unregulated financial tools and techniques. If you want a primer, let me know.

For starters I was getting back at Miro because he previously (in another thread) said I must have a family member in the auto industry because I defended the bailout for the big 3.

Secondly you can create a bank far easier with government capital behind it then you can teach skilled workers who if they get laid off will riot and burn your country to the ground. Remember everyone on here is afraid of Detroit. Then keep them there. Ask yourself do you want mass migration from Detroit to your city? What will that do to crime? Will murders go up? The answer is yes to all of the above.

What you all need to realize is that money isn't real. It just seems like it does.

If creating solvent banks was so quick and easy, we wouldn't have a global crisis with them right now.

Money per se is not real. What it represents is very real. Again, if that wasn't the case, we wouldn't be having an economic crisis and a recession.

Know what's funny about all this? A while back, you were the one calling me a socialist for favoring a bailout of the financial industry. And now you're the one who wants to bail out the auto industry. So how does it feel to join the socialist ranks?

You can't have manslaughter without laughter.

"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl."

Not only Detroit, GM et all have factories in Europe and Asia too. If Citibank in Belgium would close down, 950 people would lose their job. If Opel Antwerp would shut its doors, a few thousand would be on the street. And that's just one factory.

I'm not saying bail this or bail that, but I'm getting the impression that the more you fuck over society, the more the state will finance your mistakes.

^^ Exactly... these yo-yos on here don't get it. You can only piss people off so long until they revolt.

Hey Miro you would probably defend the banks even if all your assets were possessed to help pay for the national debt because you know what, that is next. In order to end the great depression the US gov't repossessed everyone's gold. I can't wait to talk on here when the big 3 have gone under and every city in the US is burning. But hey the banks are ok. You know how insignificant banks really are?? and yes it really is that easy to start a bank.

I hate it when I am right. Look at this shit.

$7.4 Trillion?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Guess where it is all goin Miro?? You will be happy to hear that 99% of it is going to bankers.

Oh hear you guys go. You Auto haters should read this.

Hmmm a lie about $70/hr but talking about $7.4 Trillion in bailouts. The smoke screen is set. With everyone focusing on the Autos you are going to get bank robbed.

I think we should pitch the Canadian education system a few billion. For the obvious reasons.

                          1. Yes, obviously our future wealth will be taken to repay the national debt. If we bail out the car companies too, that will only further increase that national debt - which, btw, will probably happen.

                          2. Banks are not insignificant and it is not easy to start a bank. It's "easy" only if you have the same understanding of banking as a shrimp does when examining a nuclear submarine. Go start a bank and let me know how far you get.

lets just see who is right in 2010. For Mariner you forgot I am Canadian and you are from the USA which obviously means I am much smarter then you are. Instead of you guys bitching with me about how smart you guys are you should be taking notes from me on how to fix your corrupt country. The fact that you attack my country for statements I make just shows the shallowness of your education.
