Does Winamp and mlipod work OK with the ipod touch?
CAUTION: iPhone 3G and iPod touch with FW 2.0.x is NOT supported yet
Apple changed the encryption method, and it has not been hacked so far. See http://bluwiki.com/go/Ipodhash for more info.

Oh. My. God. James absolutely obliterated the island tonight. The last time there was so much destruction, Obi Wan Kenobi had to take a seat on the Falcon after the Death Star said "hi and bye" to Leia's homeworld.
I got pics and video. But I will upload them in the morning. I need to smoke this nice phat joint and just close my eyes and replay the amazingness in my head.
that site has been taken offline over the last couple of days because apple thinks reverse engineering their ipod db is against the DMCA. when will companies realize that this is not going to be stopped and people are going to want to use what they purchase how and where they like it. you would think that the more places your app would run, even if unsupported, would make your company more money.
I read Apple has no grounds because the site itself is not reverse engineering, it's talking about reverse engineering ... if Apple wins, that means we can't even talk about it.

Thanks buddy. I just do not understand this idiotic attitude from companies such as Apple. I've bought loads of ipods, and up until the Touch I used Floola to manage the content on it. But because of this encryption it doesn't work with the Touch/iPhone and I am stuck with the bloatware shite that is itunes.
Apple won't get another penny from me while they continue to do this. Nor will I buy from the Apple Store as encrypted content won't play on my home system (Sonos). Muppets.
Listening Post wrote:Songbird is like an open source version of iTunes that handles just about everything that program does, while swapping out the iTunes store interface in favor of the world's music blogs.
You can stream music from those sources directly within the program (try that with iTunes' browser), purchasing whatever music you encounter there that strikes your fancy from multiple sources: Amazon, Amie St., eMusic or iTunes. Or, if a blog or other site offers songs as free downloads, those are gathered neatly at the bottom of the screen as well (see screenshot to the right).
And Songbird is extensible because it uses the same architecture as Firefox.

I am glad the EFF is on board, I am sure they will not be able to enforce this. I am sure since they can't they will just try to bully their way with having more money into having this taken down instead. Then we will just have the site hosted in Sweden or the Ukraine which will solve this whole problem.
Also there is a reverse engineering exception, if all you are trying to do is expand the interoperability of the device.
17 U.S.C. 1201(f), which permits individuals to circumvent technological measures and distribute circumvention tools "for the purpose of enabling interoperability of an independently created computer program with other programs, if such means are necessary to achieve such interoperability, to the extent that doing so does not constitute [copyright] infringement."
Slashdot reports that Apple has sent a "cease and desist" email to bluwiki, a public wiki site, demanding the removal of postings there by those who are trying to figure out how to write software that can sync media to the latest versions of the iPhone and iPod Touch.Short answer: Apple doesn't...
I never knew there was such a reverse engineering exception, why would they allow that? Doesn't that means it's legit to hack all your Xboxes and PS3s?

To hack it to allow it to play games you have not paid for, no.
A good example of sanctioned reverse engineering is when Andrew Tridgell analyzed the SMB protocol from Mirosoft and learned enough about it to allow him to view SMB shares on Unix / Linux boxes.
