Thee-O - It`s Like This (ft. Remixes by MikeE, Federico Giust, Licuadora System and Filter Cutz) (Quimika Records)
Release Date: December 2nd, 2008
Uruguay's Quimika Records and Los Angeles' DJ Thee-O team up for this monstrous release, definitely a mouthwatering prospect with the original of "It's Like This" joined by MikeE, Federico Guust, Licuadora System and Filter Cutz remixes. Thee-O has had more releases recently than the 2008 Oakland Raiders have been conceding touchdowns, believe me that's some achievement!
The Original mix is a sharp track with a really smart voiced sample and a driving bassline. This mix should take grip of the dancefloor and not let go. Relentless indeed, and a really good start to the release.
Second up the MikeE Remix starts with an alternative bassdrum and some dark sweeps. This mix is definitely darker than the original with many sparse elements on show. Something for earlier on in a club set or radio mix.
Label bossman Federico Guist is up next with his interpretation of the original. This is a chunky progressive and house hybrid with a smart drop in the middle section of the track. A very solid remix indeed.
The fourth mix is the Licuadora System remix, this utilises the main vocal a little differently, making it stand alone before bringing back in the main sweeps and percussion. Again definitely a sound remix, and very usable.
The final mix is the Filter Cutz remix and this mix is a bit more progressive than tech house, unlike some of the other mixes. A nice bassline is a key component of the mix, as is an effective distorted take of vocal. Perhaps my favourite mix alongside the original.
5 mixes of quality on show here, some original ideas as well good production - definitely a recipe for success by Quimika and DJ Thee-O.
