Categorizing music is so lame in a way, just my opinion yo. It's fragmentary and limiting to the art of breaking down barriers, originality and experimentation.

Yeah... it is good for professional and commercial technicalities, as well as keeping a practical bearing on signature sounds/genres forsure -- but it really is relatively stifling I think.

Good music is good music -- I hate using categories and sub/genre names.

I wouldnt worry too much about having not heard whom most of them are. RA's polls always come across as if theres no dance scene outside of the genres of minimal and dubstep or more recently the Oslo and Mannheim scenes.

Basically they are well known for jumping on wagons, as is reflected by their readership also. They quickly turned their back on anything "progressive" even though it was the support from those, labels and artists that established them in the first place.

It never fails to amaze me that despite being heavily into EDM, there are people/tracks/labels that feature in these polls that I've never even heard of. Who the fuck is the Mole? I haven't even heard the No.1 remix (and I can't find it on Beatport - link anyone?)
gonna guess you don't listen to much of that minimal techy stuff.

The Mole has been around the minimal scene forever; seen his work a lot in recent years on Mathew Jonson's Wagon Repair label.

That Shakleton Minimoostar remix is awesome and deserves being in the top list. Just slightly better than the original imo. I almost got it for my recent Proton mix but then didn't end up springing for the $20-some cost...now I wish I had. It's a bit of a rarity, and it got rave reviews.

And you'll never find it on those crummy mp3s because Perlon label is vinyl only.
