I don't see anything wrong with it. I believe in making things more accessible to people through the use of technology. It will allow more people who don't know how to DJ to try and use it in different ways and come up with something new instead of being stuck in the two turntables and a mixer mentality when trying to use software like Traktor to mix.

And more than anything it's leveling the playing field as well, so people have to try and keep raising the standard, and that's never a bad thing.

thats different, if you're creating loops, and constructing a live set using a sequencer, or ableton live... i'd say, thats one and the same.
a lot of great techno producers have awesome live sets.

Traktor is just a tool. You can use it to evolve or regress as a DJ. The minority who use it to evolve are probably the ones who have always been creative and artistically skillful because that's just who they are.

What is wrong with "just" turntables and a mixer anyhow? What is wrong with playing records as they were supposed to be heard - The best records out there stand up on their own as productions which is exactly why they are the best records out there - simple.
You may well want to filter it into oblivion or add massive delays but if you're not improving the record (and if you are i'd be amazed) then please don't bother.
If you think what you are doing to your tunes makes them better than the original i suggest you record your work and sent it to the artist to see what they think. Good luck

Exactly, there will be those who push it and those who are lazy, just like with any new technology that comes out.

And there is nothing wrong with just two turntables and a mixer, if that's what you do then by all means stick with it! What I'm saying is people who still use Traktor that way and aren't using it to it's fullest capabilities because they are still stuck in that mind set of just "two turntables and a mixer", where as some one who's never DJed before picks it up and tries to use it in a different way because they have never DJed before.

Will quote this again for the benefit of Jayson Can't fault that line of thought. I wonder how much of these ridiculous embellishments are done to either mask the lack of any technical skills, or because the DJ is so free behind the decks he HAS to do something and fucking around with a track with filters and effects is the only way to justify the cost of the software and equipment.
