As promised here is my version of the night as best as I can remember..
some pics from the night here: http://www.vpac.org/~behera/pics/Sas...104/index.html
One of the best nights Ive had in a long time.. had a little but not much to do with Sasha's set, it was good even by his standards but nothing spectacular. walked in to hear Phil K starting off on the decks.. he played a really punchy set though he wasnt going all outlike he normally does.. he was just there to warm the crowd. he did play a really loud mix of u2 - discotheque.. sounds cheesy but it was a nice track.
Sasha came on and bored the pants of everyone with this track for 10 mins.. obviously he was trying to slow things down so he could start again, phil's set ended on the harder side. when the basslines finally kicked in it was more relief than anything else. obviously he played his favourite "in a state". played a nice vocal track before it, which he was singing to and pretty pumped about. I could have sworn the music suddenly got really loud halfway through his set, but I guess that was just me he played the classic Ruhe towards the end of the set. nicely executed set, another day in the office for the man.
I believe this was one of his first full sets on the laptop/ableton. dont think he even touched the cdjs. Kasey Taylor came to finish things off, and I cant believe how quickly his set was over and it was 8am. by the time I got up that afternoon, we had already missed the big race named after the city - but id miss it for a night like that any day of the week and twice on sundays.
