as far as origins go, i have no idea. the first time i was exposed to it was when i was really young, and when i used to live in washington state. it used to be a great substitute if you didn't have fireworks!

Me and a friend banged on pots and pans for new years eve when we were kids...They are Italian...I always thought is was just because his family was poor and wanted to keep us occupied while they got drunk.

oh sweet bro, i used to live over in redmond. i remember one time we went to my friends cabin in wenatchee, and we ran up and down the street with our pots, pans and wooden spoon wrecking havoc =)
