Just logged into [ms] for the first time after nearly 3 weeks sitting on my ass on a blazing hot beach in Goa (fucking great, thanks for asking), and it seems that people have decided to welcome the new year by getting on each other's cases. I come to [ms] for music, interesting shit, and for people debating interesting shit and music in an informed and (occasionaly) mature fashion, not for people bitching and bickering pointlessly...I get enough of that at work ffs. 
I for one see the new year as an excuse to be excessively positive, if only for January until the harsh reality that all those good intentions evaporate pretty quickly. But if you don't even start with good intentions and a relatively positive outlook, it's gonna be a long hard year.
Can't we all just get along?
