    At first I kinda laughed at this, but as I think more about it, it isn't a horrible pick. First, I had never been aware of his credentials before, but now that I am, he's no slouch. Moreover, surgeon general is the sort of thing where you're really serving as a figurehead for health-related matters, not making policy, and Sanjay Gupta is someone that a lot of Americans already know and trust to speak on such issues.

      This reminds me of Bush appointing Tony Snow from Fox News as Press Secretary. I guess like Bush watching Fox then Obama must be watching CNN.

          and its not like he is a "reporter" in that sense of the word. guy is one of the most qualified nerosurgeons on the planet.
