Mac OS X trash anomoly (Please help)

Ok, here is the story.... I have an old external hard drive that I use to back up all my tracks, sets, etc (250gb Western Digital Book)....About 2 weeks ago, I deleted about 1500 files, mostly old tracks that I never listened to. I highlighted the files, right clicked and chose to "Move to trash". I then chose "Secure empty trash"...They deleted after about 15 minutes...

This is where it gets weird....

Today, I plug in the same old external hard drive to do some backing up...I looked at my trash can, and all of those files that I deleted 2 weeks ago re-appeared in the trash can...

Is this normal? WTF is that all about??? I deleted them for a second time.....

Also, my internets have slowed to a snail's pace....It takes a couple of minutes for some pages to load, and when I click on items on a page, it sometimes acts like I pressed the "back" button...I use the new Firefox...

    Thanks in advance.
    RIP ~ Steve James

Did you hit Securely empty Trash with your external drive plugged in?

I got pics and video. But I will upload them in the morning. I need to smoke this nice phat joint and just close my eyes and replay the amazingness in my head.

Hmmm. Good question. The first time I deleted them, I don't think I had the external plugged in. The second time, I had it plugged in.. Totally never thought of that. Could that be why?

But, why is my internet so slow? I use Onyx 1.8.4 and Clear Cache out programs every couple of weeks. Could those programs have deleted some necessary stuff of my comp?

Well Trash is just a place to hold files you want to delete. So if you put external files on there, they don't get deleted, until you hit Empty with the external drive plugged in. The stuff in Trash is like a pointer to the files on the external storage that you want to delete.
