How Do We Get Out Of This Mess (Economy)

Any takers on how the fuck we get out of this mess???

    1. War is always a popular option when hitting hard times. Gaza/Iran, Israel/US etc...

    2. One world currency under one law. Basically wiping the slate clean and starting over. I have been hearing people like Kissinger lately talking about a "one world order."

Is Obama going to unite the countries to form a Union or modern day "League of Nations?"

Is the Amero coming to a bank near us?

go back in time to 2001 and tell congress to pass the bush proposal on reigning in the frannie and freddie measure that they just passed last week.

amazing. he is an idiot, but some of the stuff he wanted passed is coming to a head now where they need to pass even stronger measures. social security, the financial mess in credit....

and obama aint gonna do shit. we still have the same fucking people in leadership we had ten years ago. im ordering a tee shirt to wear with his "motivational stare" on it and the quote "where's the fucking cure asshole?>"

Well, you've got your pick of two wars right now. Seriously, though, a large world war might end up helping recovery down the road and we're well due for one, at least...

This one is a bit crazy...except that it's really not, especially in these sparsely unprecedented time. Killing the dollar outright is not unheard of...as I said in another thread on here, it would basically be like a massive national bankruptcy. It would be ugly as hell, though. Starting over means that virtually everyone loses a ton of wealth. Let's hope we aren't forced to go there...

I guess what we do now is some near-term government spending to prop up jobs and fight deflation...and we just ride out the misery for several years. The realization of losses is a fundamental prerequisite to recovery. Unfortunately, there's no real way around that.

We have to let some of the financials fail. Citi is a dead bird. The US must let Citi fail in order to fix this by the end of 2009. If they keep giving money to Citi than the economic crisis will drag on until 2011

Not necessarily opposed to that. But have you thought about how they should let those major banks fail? There is a big difference between a well thought-out failure through bankruptcy and a very disorderly failure that reverberates throughout the open market. And it's very difficult with the megabanks, because just because they go away doesn't mean their problems go away.

For example: what do you do with all of the creditors and customers of those mega banks throughout the world (not even talking about the employees; that's the least of the trouble)? Millions of people need access their savings and get their next paycheck, millions of market-making transactions need to be processed in markets, millions of corporate transfers need to be made every day. Where do you propose that those people then go? They don't just disappear.

I'll tell you where they go: they go get in line for some form of handout from the government, which gives them money that comes from the taxpayer (either current or future generation).

So it's not a simple cure-all for the economy as one might think.

it sounds to me they need to move their money to a more stable bank. Putting your money in a bank isn't like putting it in a vault. You can lose it if you put it in the wrong one. Back in the day bank robbers were a major issue. Now everything has gone electronic and most currency is somewhere on a hard drive rather than in someones pocket. That is the major problem in all of this. The money isn't on the streets anymore. It has suddenly vanished and spread out over new emerging markets. So I think the world will eventually move to a global currency where more money can be produced to spread across the global world.

Right now the US is trying to fund this global community and we are seeing the flaws

And where exactly does one find these stable banks today?..

Global currency? What good is that? What happens to the Forex? Not a chance they move to a global currency.

Canada. Switzerland. The rich is stealing from the poor. That is what is going on here plain and simple. Even billionaires are in trouble, the trillionaires are pulling in the reigns.

Canada is in a big recession, too, although not as bad as the US. Switzerland has already bailed out its failing banks. For that matter, pretty much all of Europe is in a heavy recession. Nice try, but neither of those places are safe for your cash, try again.
