I shit you not, quitting was the best thing I've ever done. You should try again

Same as me, gave up 3 or 4 years ago, never looked back. Was on about at least 15 a day. Cant stand the things now.

      Re: Smoking

I am smoking since 25 years but brought it down to 5-8 cigarettes per day since half a year. I used to smoke 20-30 daily before, not to speak of nights in clubs or with friends. I tried to quit maybe two years ago but even after more than half a year, I was still on fire to light another one till one day, beer and a good party lead to starting this shit all over. Maybe I wasn't serious enough the last time.

          Re: Smoking

I don't believe in New Years Resos but I actually did one this year. I quit smoking only because it was honestly making me feel awful on a day to day basis. I smoked for three years about 10-15/day not counting beer nights. But haven't had one in 13 days and counting (trying not to count because that is lame keeping track means you keep it on the mind) so hopefully I will be able to follow through.

            Re: Smoking

I was moking 10 - 15 a day, and I stopped smoking on the 10th October 2008 (the day before my wedding).

Bar several bongs, I've not smoked anything since.

no personal offense Dave, im talking in general coz im seeing this all the time! my uncle was a heavy smoker.. he quit 3 months before the smoking ban in UK. now when i smoke a cig outside of the kitchen at the restaurant i work, he comes down and he tells me to move away from the door coz the smoke goes inside the restaurant and customers will smell it...

              i mean WTF!!!!!!
actually, you make a good point, and not only with cigs, but I notice a lot of people that have quit one thing or another.. drugs, drinking, smoking...they seem to have a more harsh view of the people that still do those things, almost forgetting how it once controlled their lives, lol

Actually it disgusted me when I smoked. When you stop smoking you can smell it a lot more though. So your uncle does have a point. I would hate to smell smoke when I was eating .

Maybe we actually want others to feel as good about it as we do, and we did work bloody hard to give up.

                        Re: Smoking

I quit about a year ago. Used to smoke about a half to a full pack a day during the week and on the weekend much more. Had some health issues last summer until almost last winter. Just decided it was not worth it anymore. I think it is for better now and don't miss it at all.

Never took up smoking myself, thankfully, but I have seen my aunt struggle with quitting over the years. She will do really well and not smoke for months, then something will cause her to stress out more than normal and bam! starts smoking again. Its a vicious cycle

Good luck to everyone trying to quit...I know it can be quite the challenge, but hang in there!
