Question for Java Programmers

I am in need of a book that thoroughly explains with the "javax.sound.sampled" package.

I am making a beatbox for my final project and have found some decent sites on the "javax.sound.midi" package but I would like to use my own samples and not midi events.

ugh java..i remember having to program in this language back in college, took alot of code to do anything. since i just do admin work i love just having to use perl/ruby now, lots more fun.

are the default api examples from the java.sun.com site not enough?
