A New Jersey couple has named their three children as follows:
Adolph Hitler Campbell
Joyce Lynn Aryan Nation Campbell
Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell
And you thought Apple or Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa were bad.
After a store refused to put Adolph's name on a birthday cake, the family had this to say:
Uh yeah, a name's a name...
New Jersey's DFS has now taken the children from the parents, for reasons that aren't entirely clear, but let's assume for the purposes of argument that it had something to do with the fact that they took the mind-blowing step of naming their children after Hitler and the Aryan Nations.
Raises an interesting question -- it's one thing if you're endangering the health of a child or engaging in criminal activity, but should the state be able to take your children because of what you are teaching your kids? Let's assume that these people are law-abiding folks that are providing a safe and loving home, but they are virulent racists who preach white supremacy. Is that enough? Without even knowing them I can tell you that I despise these people, but I'm a little torn on this from a civil liberties standpoint.
Probably a moot point -- a couple this ignorant probably has plenty of other check marks against them from a parenting standpoint. I'm curious what the stated reason was, though.

I think people need to take their heads out of the cloud they've been in and start focusing on the future and not on the past," Heath Campbell said Tuesday in an interview conducted on the other side of the Delaware River from where the family lives in Hunterdon County, N.J.
"There's a new president and he says it's time for a change; well, then it's time for a change," he continued. "They need to accept a name. A name's a name. The kid isn't going to grow up and do what (Hitler) did."
