Just had to bump guys... I was just listening to CD 2 at the gym today after ages and its still mesmerizing.. after all these years.. I am so in love all over again. Brings back way too many good memories

Those pictures of the GU019 booklet on the previous page reminded me of Transitions Vol 3 and the bonus CD with exclusive video footage recorded at the Mayan.

i think all of the GU's are made like that... inspiration kind of compilation.

always loved reading the story in the book though, sad GU went to the crapper in recent years

No the first 4 GU's where the only ones recorded live at the club. Nick Warren's (except Prague)where recorded using 2 decks a mixer and a CD player in a studio. All the info is in the sleeve notes of most the releases, which I spent many years reading.

No I actually meant Prague I always get mixed up with warren's gu's there are loads of them...and honestly Reykjavik is the only one that really sticks out for me.

Yeah Nick was quite clear on his early CD that he felt as a DJ the mixes should be mixed using decks and a mixer, he was always the DJ that got slated for poor mixing as well (I didn't think it was bad). I think after a while he and many other DJ's came around to the idea that as CDs where for the home that the aim was to create something near perfect for the listener.

I still think Brazil is the best one he did.

Edit ^ I probably didn't explain that very well, Tom Middleton explains it better in his Cosmos CD.

I dunno what's up with me,
but i guess .. since GU was brought to this world, im having a "trouble" with all of these ones ending with 9!! Its what i've just realised now, reading this topic...

..as first, my favourite ever 029 - Dubai by Sharam
..then this one mentioned in here 019... Digweed..... and Sasha's 009 San Francisco!!!

Cant believe... i'm going offline now to think about those 9s .. and what can it all be about??

GU019 introduced me to progressive house and john digweed.

Its still my favourite mix ever.
(closely followed by the Cosmos CDs mentioned above)
