    Wow, so much goign on here.

    I can only judge some of his external (international) policies:
    Middle-East: FIASCO/FAIL
    War on Terror: FIASCO/FAIL
    US/World Economy: FIASCO/FAIL

      The irony is that I actually started this thread with the expectation that it would be a rare neutral thread about Bush, at least by my standards. I kinda have this vision of Bush leaving power by grabbing a pitchfork and retreating to some dark lair somewhere, when in fact he's just kind of dropping back into private life, where he can really do no more harm. To borrow a phrase, his time ended "not with a bang but a whimper."

      Suffice it to say that I agree with those that believe that Bush will go down as the worst president in history. For details on why I think that, please consult virtually every post I've authored in this section.

          I think we can all agree that it seems like some kind of cloud has been lifted this week. Hard to explain, it's like there's a mixture of relief and optimsim among people, including me. No one - for the most part - believes Obama is going to wave some magic wand and turn the world into Big Rock Candy Mountain, but it sure does feel like everyone has (to use a word that has been beaten to death) hopeful.

          And this is coming from someone who voted Republican in the past three elections!
          Imagination was given to man to compensate him for what he is not;
          a sense of humor to console him for what he is.

              You can't have manslaughter without laughter.

              "Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl."
