DJing Ableton Live 7... Tracks sound washed out.

So... I just started using Ableton to create mixes , and I am enjoying it. However when I render my mix out to a WAV file it sounds a bit washed out on the high end. The tracks I used I ran through MP3gain first, and I checked to see if they sounded like that after using MP3gain and they didn't. Only after exporting the mix from Ableton did it sound like that.

Is there a setting I need to change or do something different? Anyone else have this problem?

What exactly are you doing with effects on each channel and on the master? Gotta know details before I can help ya D.

I suggest getting this for your master channel though...
Features: Three stereo compressors. A master limiter. Flexible dividing filters(ButterWorth Filter or LinearPhaseFIR Filter). Sampling Rate...

Uh... On each audio channel I just drop in the track I want to use and I use the Volume Automation Dots to mix them together. I just got Ableton so i dont know how to do everything yet. I dont have any FX on the channles, and I dont have any FX set to the master either. The only setting I changed was I set Warp Mode to Complex and the master BPM for the mix I set to 127.

When I play my mix in the car you can't tell any difference in the audio, but on headphones you can hear the slight soundsing of washed out highs.

I downloaded that Compressor and I will mess around with that as well.

      Thanks for the help

I never use the complex on clips unless I am time stretching a sound. I always just leave them on beats for my tracks. Also I always put the ableton plug mastering chain on my master. Its has a rack that includes a eq and compressor and works really well. It's best to going in and mess with the settings till you get it the way you want it to sound.

        hope it helps

Ok... I think whats causing the sound is the fact that I am using the WARP function... Which is a must for ableton. I'll just stick with it and see what I can come up with. I'll post my mix in the promo section and see what others think about the sound.

Thank you both so much for your help....

here's a nice video on warping in under a minute. it's the technique I have been using since I saw the video. this guy is very informative.

Here's one about doing Delay over a part of a song, ala Sander Van Doorn style. It really helps in making really cool breakdowns.

and I never thought about turning on the metronome when warping my tracks. What a great idea

^^^it also helps to just have another track playing at the same time that you have already warped. That way you KNOW they are in time with each other.

yes, my old method was to just have a nice & short hi-hat loop play
