I won't be back until next Tuesday, so if Get Carter is the correct answer, I would appreciate of someone else posts a new cap for me

Re: XM on the way out?

Doesn't look like they are going to shutter imminently, but this is obviously bad news. I'm definitely pulling for them -- we use the music channels on DirecTV all the time at home, and I like having it in my car when I feel like listening to talk radio or just get tired of my iPod.

If Echostar (read: DISH Network) buys it, would that mean that they would not longer broadcast the DirecTV music channels? I didn't get DirecTV for the music channels, but I've gotten so used to having them, it would suck to have them go away.

Wouldn't notice if it disappeared, radio has never interested me, there's always something I own that I'd rather play than to sit around and hope a song I like comes on the radio

Music is the answer, to your problems. Keep on movin', till you solve them.

I used to have the same approach, but I found that I was getting into a bit of a rut, always listening to the same thing. For certain genres, like downtempo stuff, it's actually really helped me broaden my horizons and has exposed me to a lot of music I likely wouldn't otherwise have heard. Now, I'm about 70% my music-30% satellite.

Oh well. I had a 6 month trial to XM in my car. The best thing was the XMTraffic updates to my GPS. Got used to not having them anyway, since in damn Houston, everything was "red" on the map anyway. LOL.

One part I didn't understand is that by filing Chap 11, they are "forcing the hand" of Echostar to buy it? Hmm.

lost some good stations in the process too.

i hope siriusxm survives...if for nothing else, because it'll really grind my gears to see that useless "XM" button on the factory stereo in our Acura.

You can't have manslaughter without laughter.

"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl."

get an ipod and dump jibby's sets on it. you wont even realize it and will probably end up wanting to drive back another 12 hours just to stay in the zone.

They're probably going into bankruptcy court because they don't have the money to pay their bills. From there, they may either liquidate the entire company or restart again if they can restructure the company strike a deal for new financing arrangements...which, in this economy, is anything but certain. If I had to guess, I would say the XM Sirius brand will live on in some form.
