I'm from the UK and I've seen a six month job advertised in Munich. I've been for two days before, but didn't have time to see what the nightlife is like. The job is only for six months, but it would be great if it's got a good club/music scene. Any advice?
cheers, RH

sorry man, dont know bout the clubbing, i know that the city itself is great, a lots of old buildings in the center and around, much calmer than other bigger cities around, the center is perfect for going for a coffee in the morning.
been there few times, i liked it, but remained only for few hours each time, coffee and meetings.
you shloud try it.
I take Viagra and Prozac together. If I can't get it up, I don't care.
I spent a weekend there in March and will probably be going back in a few weeks. The nightlife is good, but not groundbreaking by any means. I don't think you would have any problem keeping entertained. What kind of music are you into? AFAIK, progressive music isn't so big there - house, electro, techno, and goa are the thing. I believe there is also a rather good following for breakbeat - The Garden Club has a Friday night thing with international acts playing on a very regular basis.
I know there are others, but I've just been there once and haven't looked that much into it.
My boss originally comes from Munich and told me that the typical club is pretty exclusive and upper-class. There is a lot of money in Munich (probably the most "old money" in Germany), so a lot of clubs like to try to seem more exclusive and have that whole velvet rope/doorman thing. We never ran into that problem, but I gather that the sort of clubs he's talking about wouldn't be playing the type of music that interests me anyways.
I did personally like the city and would move there in a sec if a good job opportunity presented itself. I say go for it - should be a blast. Plus, Bavarians are fucking cool.
Thanks for the replies. I do like most sorts of dance music (and music in general, for that matter), apart from the extreme and commercials ends - no trance, gabba, hard house etc. I know the Compost label is from Munich, and I like their stuff, but I prefer something a bit more thumping when I go out.
I would most likely take it if I get offered it. Like I said in the 'What do you regret' thread, I've always regreted the things I didn't do over the things I did.
cheers, RH

We don't have much Clubs where Progressive Music is played but on the 10th of December Hybrid will play at The Garden (link posted from krelm). The Other clubs are at the Kunstfabrik. The play all kind of music...from salsa to cheesy trance in different clubs. It's a whole area with about 20 clubs.
