Frankly .. all I can say is that the Man Like was bang on form last night and hearing the best he has in ages ... but then those who love his Malta set already know this right ?
It seems like Sankeys brings out the best in Sasha ... the club is intimate, crammed and (frankly) a bit of a sh1thole .. but hey, I was there for the music anyway ! To give you a feel the above pic was taken just by me.
I'm pleased to report that this was the best Sasha's played live for the last couple of years. Out with the clicky minimal ... in with melodies and some vocals. He stayed locked in the zone (with that 110% concentration frown on him) - started with w. nice laid back vibe a la Zen afterparty and built things - no obvious tracks or crowd pleasers. Just layering the music and building track to track ... soma amazing tunes in there ... he played an awesome Xpanderes-que number , which may be a newie he's saving for the WMC.
Played also Guy J's "Pushin Too Hard" along with other Sky Club tracks and after hitting his alloted 4-hours Sasha played an extra 40 mins (I had a cab booked and had to tell the taxi driver that there was a queue at the cloak room !)
Finished with Ladytron, Butch - 1000 Lords (Zoo Brazil Remix), Paul Kalkbrenner - Gebrünn Gebrünn (Special Berlin Calling Edit) ... then a lovely version of Friendly Fire's "Paris" (possibly not the Aeroplane version below, but it did have the female vocal)

... topped things off with Blackfeel Wite - Silence (1st track on Malta ... which sounds even better at the end of the night !).
Awesome !
Oh .. and it was nice to bump into Domnal (Daniel) from [ms] - really nice guy and he trainspotted far more than me - I was lost in the music. Hopefully he'll add some more ID's.
Anyone going to the WMC you're in for a treat if you're going to the Shelbourne gig or Boat Party (Sakio ?).
