ZOMG Bobby Jindal Walks Like a Zombie

Anybody else catch that with the GOP rebuttal? He came out from behind the wall toward the camera with a freaky I-need-brains grin, and his arms were pinned to his sides like a couple of salamis. LOL

You can't have manslaughter without laughter.

"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl."

Someone at MSNBC (sounds like Olbermann to me) was similarly unimpressed with Jindal's appearance, cutting to him while muttering (on an unexpectedly hot mic), "Oh, God."

Conservative David Brooks was pretty underwhelmed by his speech as well:

He is such a door knob--Jindal. The US political system has turned into a joke. The only reason they are doing this is so that they have a colored guy going up against a colored guy.

I did feel a bit sorry for Jindal. Actually, he is a bright guy - an Ivy League educated Rhodes Scholar. But the content and delivery of his speech really vacillated between horror and hilarity, and it showed just how out of touch the Republican party is with reality.

Also, he's just not a great presenter and can't connect with people anywhere near the way that Obama can. I feel bad for anyone who has to present after Obama...Jindal never had a chance.

I agree with many of the comments and will note at times he felt condescending in his speech. I felt like he spoke to us like we were stupid. More importantly, I still don't think he delivered an effective speech to counter-point a good Obama speech.

As for Jindal, I would say give him time and more experience. Obama had his ineffective speech moments years ago as well. Don't write off Jindal yet.

how about we just toss him to the side and get some goddamn principled leadership in the party? Principles don't come from talk radio, and as far as a I can tell, that's where Jindal gets his weak sauce from.

/not saying talk radio sucks, but it's not anything to base a party on. (imo)

Talk radio is great. It's dominated by white male Republicans like Hannity, Savage, O'Reilly, Limbaugh and Beck. I enjoy listening to them tell me how fucked everything is. And more importantly, I get a viewpoint biased from the right instead of the usual left slant that CNN and the NY Times gives me.

I say let the free market rule and keep the fairness doctrine out of talk radio. When the liberals can come up with a radio station that is entertaining I'll listen to that too.

From some of the clips I've seen it looked like a pretty weak speech. I kind of felt awkward and a bit embarassed for him just watching it.
