:: LOT 49 NEWSLETTER: March 2009 ::
LOT49 @ East Village - Valentines Party
Many thanks to all you lovely people that, without remorse, decided to lose the plot with the tech-funkers instead of a romantic night in -
another absolutely cracking party
We will be back in London same time, same place on 11th April AND we will also be launching a Lot49 residency in Bristol on the 17th April - more details to follow.......
DOPAMINE & FRIENDS
Dopamine AKA Matt Goddard has long been held in high regard by DJs, producers and fans electronic music, with a string of sterling releases for landmark labels such as TCR, Passenger and Title Fight. His sound has over the years mutated and evolved leading him from a history rooted in breakbeat to the glitchy house and tech funk that we have on this outstanding EP.
This is Goddard’s first outing with us and takes the form of an EP featuring both solo and collaborative material.
First up we have the delicately titled ‘Spunk’, which despite its unsavoury name is a brilliant piece of bouncing, fidget house with a rolling b-line, cut and paste funk samples and glitchy tech riffs. This is a guaranteed dancefloor destroyer that rides perfectly the line between underground sensibilities and peak time attitude.
Next we see the lead cut get the remix treatment from Lot49 stalwart Vandal, who is currently riding high on the success of his ‘Captain Magic’ single. Here he takes the parts and moulds things in to an intense 4/4 killer with a big party atmosphere. Excellent stuff.
The first of the two collaborations sees Dopamine team up with James Cocozza to create ‘Bogun’ a superb piece of electro house with a monster of a breakdown and layers of roof raising tough synth lines.
Closing the package we see Goddard team up with Meat Katie to produce a deep and rolling cut entitled ‘Nectar’. This is a simple and fairly stripped affair compared to the rest of the EP, but it works beautifully. Off key sythns give a haunting vibe to the hypnotic and relentless groove whilst tight shuffling drums and percussion provide a perfect undercarriage to this excellent rework.
As always a real cross section of dj support coming from the likes of Wally Lopez, Malente, Elite Force, Utah saints, Dj Vibe, Sonny wharton, Plump Dj's, Mark Dynamix, Luke Dzierek, Freqnasty.........

DYLAN RHYMES "BLUE BLACK : 2000-2004 - REMASTERED"
This package is a retrospective album we have put together using material from Lot49 co-owner Dylan Rhymes' days on his own Blue Black label. As this is a re-issue we thought it was probably worth a re-master too and we are happy to announce that these tracks sound as fresh now as the day they were bounced!!
Im sure you will agree these tracks have stood the test of time - classic "Rhymes" heavy bassline house with slamming techno overtones, blistering remixes by the likes of Phil Kieran and Elite Force and also featured on this package are the first of his collaborative tracks with label co-owner Meat Katie. This coincides nicely with upcoming new material from the label heads which, as you would expect from this pair, are dark twisted late night affairs of the highest order (some people just never change!!)
Tracklisting:
Dylan Rhymes & Meat Katie 'Body Shock'
Dylan Rhymes 'Compression Chamber'
Dylan Rhymes 'Ilinoise'
Dylan Rhymes 'Listen' (Dylan Rhymes & Meat Katie Tech Remix)
Dylan Rhymes 'Muji '
Dylan Rhymes 'On The Dancefloor' (Cable Guy remix)
Dylan Rhymes 'On The Dancefloor' (Duncan Grey remix)
Dylan Rhymes 'On The Dancefloor' (Elite Force remix)
Dylan Rhymes 'On The Dancefloor' (Phil Kieran remix)
