    Working in the ambient realms

I have been a fan of ambient and space and experimental sounds far longer than I have been into EDM. Well I had an idea the other day that I turned into a full 10 minute piece of ambient experimental sound. It's still without any real sense of mastering, but I wanted to share it with people who might be interested in ambient sounds.

I'm really giving some serious thought to making a full albums worth of experimental ambient music and see if it's good enough to release.

    Have a wonderful week.

i like the pads you use between 5:36-5:54. I'm not big into the drums being used, or the cricket-sounding clicking, but that's just me; i like my ambient ultra-ambient. pads and nothing more. (a la jonn serrie)

I feel like there's a house track brewing in this piece somewhere. The first thing it reminded me of, though on a full listen is clearly not similar to, is Hazy March by Flash Bro's (at least the intro parts).

I'm diggin it. especially that bottom-end distortion at 5:20.

It reminds me of a stripped down Orb kind of sound (circa Orbus Terrarum). I like the crickety noise, but I think it could be minimized and tied in with some percussion. The electric-grungy noise might benefit from that, too, just don't go crazy with the percs. The drum does stick out a bit... maybe EQ out some of the bass and/or push it to the background?

I've recently started dabbling with ambient/chillout. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. Trying something different always leads to new possibilities. LOL, at least I'd like to think so.

Re: Working in the ambient realms

thanks a ton everyone for the feedback. i truly appreciate it. now it's just a matter of working smarter on the future tracks.

now about the sounds and what I was going for. this piece...to me, was a culmination of a few different styles. Take Taylor Deupree, Pan Sonic, Harold Budd, and Steve Roach and there you go.

this piece is kind of a homage to the microsound, avant-noise, and deep spacey sounds. but all at one time.

                thanks again for the feedback.
