My flying days would be over too!!

Not too big on the dj but the story is pretty crazy!!

On September 20th, DJ AM, Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker and four others were in a Learjet that crashed shortly after takeoff, killing all but AM and Barker. On February 12th, Continental flight 3407 crashed on its way from New Jersey to Buffalo, killing all 49 people on board and one person on the ground. Oh hey guess what.

DJ AM, real name Adam Goldberg, was booked on the (Continental) flight but canceled and drove instead, after having a bad feeling about the flight. AM says his flying days are over, and from now on only gigs that he can drive to will be on his schedule.

I really don't understand people who are afraid of death...
I mean its obviously better to be alive than dead but once it happens you won't have regrets because you will be dead...you won't think "oh its a bummer i'm dead"
So live life to its fullest and if you happen to die...you die so what. Allowing for fear to control your life is just sad...and deciding to give up flying because of the things mentioned above IMO would be equal to giving up walking because you fell on your head twice...

I was on a flight to Atlanta 2 weeks ago, everything seemed normal until the captain gave the usual "buckle your seat belts we are going to have a bumpy landing." It was surreal flying out of Florida on a perfectly sunny day and arriving in Atlanta where 14 tornadoes were spotted and winds over 150 mph. Wish they would have just cancelled my flight

It was fun while it lasted...

I doubt you would be sitting in your seat calm as buddha while your plane was falling out of the sky to your death I think it's the process that scares people. Having a near death experience scares most people normally.

He might as well fly... he's probably the safest one in the world. What are the chances it could happen again? There's NO WAY it can happen 3 times.

Re: My flying days would be over too!!

Coming back from Barbados a few years back we were told to fasten our seat belts and to expect a bumpy ride due to turbulence. Now flying doesn't scare me at all, on the contrary, I love it, but this time I have to say that we did at some pint think things were not quite right. When you see the air stewardess on all fours in one of the isles with a face like she is expecting death, then rightly so you begin to worry. It was the worst flight I have ever been on.

Would it stop me from flying again? Nah You've got more chance of seeing Pataky becoming the President of the US than you have of dieing on a a plane.

Flying sucks BIG time at the moment - All over the world, South African Airways our country airline has just been bailed out by our government with 800 million.

The largest room in the world, is the room for improvement!

As a person that flies a lot, I'd like to personally thank DJ AM for not flying anymore, because the dude is the last guy I'd want to see sitting next to me on a plane given his track record. I'm not sure the FAA should even let him book flights anymore. Sheesh...
