Although I somewhat feel sorry for the guy - I think a lot more people highly respected him prior to his tenure in the Bush administration than do now. This begs the question - will his defining career moments be the sucess in Gulf War I, or standing in front of the UN giving later-disproved evidence leading up to Gulf War II?

He should take his son with 'em.

a sense of humor to console him for what he is.

I'm pretty sure that Powell was only planning on serving one term regardless. I feel sorry for him, too, because I think he was actually one of the more decent and rational people in the administration.

Maybe it's just because I like the guy and this could be willful blindness on my part, but I view his UN testimony as him falling on the sword for Bush and doing his bidding. I do wonder what his legacy will be, though...

Not just Powell, looks like Bush is cleaning house to create a cabinet more loyal to him.

Also read somewhere that he ordered the new CIA director to replace all officers disloyal to Bush.

did anyone see the Daily Show last night? They showed a clip of Powell singing (or lip-syncing) and prancing around on stage to some oldies tune. God it was hysterical -- anyone know under what circumstances this occurred? Did they have a cabinet level talent show or something?
