    Production production headphones

so i will be in the market soon for headphones....
i am unsure what to get... i am moving in w/ my girlfriend and need to do some work with headphones. i will go from payin $1100 in rent a month to splitting $1200, so i am willing to spend a bit to get nice ones.

i was looking at AKG and Audio Technica. I had a pair of Beyer Dynamic DT770's and they crapped out on me... so i will lean away from Beyers.... ideas?

Shawn, hear me now and believe me later, and do a sound test. Check out the Ultrasones HFI-650, which is what I use in the studio. They cost me $99 and sounded better than those big DT-770's that so many people think are the best. Sometimes I think they overlook the quality of sound for the comfortable ear pieces they have. I am now a full blown Ultrasone fan, very clean and full bodied sound. To me....PERFECT for producing in headphones.

nice one dude... i will look into those. i liked the dt-770's, but they started to muffle after 10 months... not sure if its cause i was traveling a lot or not... but i dont want to spend money on those again!

i actually just dj'ed with my HFI-450's this weekend and boy they were nice. all the sounds were great and i could hear the bass was kickin and well defined too. I guess one could really use these babies as an all around headphone.

I have the Beyerdynamics DT- 770, but the main reason is that i use them for vocal recordings, they are not really comfortable for long term use, since it is a closed model, however, i do check my final mix with them to see if everything is like it should be.

Perhaps an open model of the beyerdynamics would fit you better? I'm seriously thinking of buying an open headphone model myself.

I got them at GC bro. I think you are looking at the other 650's I'm talking the HFI-650. Not the proline. Those are 250$.

please don't buy them without testing them out bro. I will never do that again.
