    TGIF (mayan version)






    Maybe it is because the WMC coming up or the spirit of spring time and new beginnings, but good things are in the air right now. At any rate, hypoluxa has recorded some truly epic videos from last night with John Digweed @ The Mayan. IMO a rare glimpse perfectly caught on a small point and shoot. Diggz is outspoken about his love for this venue. Thanks to Hypo! +10

      happy friday. i'm finally back home after a grueling week of travel! i'm going to R-E-L-A-X this weekend.

                          Sound is the most important element for listening to music, no question about that. Anyway regarding your question about the iconic Mayan Theater (built in 1927):

                          Returning to The Mayan Theater is some of what a spiritual homecoming for John Digweed, as it was at the Mayan that he first made a name for himself in Los Angeles, with Liquified debuting him at the venue in 2000.

                          The LA Times even went so far as to state that the Mayan shows, “reintroduced the art of dancing to dance music” in Los Angeles at the turn of the 21st century.

                          It's the quality of the nights that John Digweed recognized and was inspired by, prompting him to base his 'Global Underground: Los Angeles' mix CD on past performances at the Mayan.
